Erik did such an amazing job planning his & JoAnn’s surprise proposal in City Park! I’ve shot quite a bit of proposals in my day and they never get old to me. I love the planning, the anticipation and the surprise and love that surrounds it all. Erik planned a photo session for them both while they were down in New Orleans, one of their favorite cities to visit. Peep Joann’s fabulous krewe sunglasses.
He called me up and we began setting the plan in place. I love walking through the whole process with the one who plans the proposal and reassuring them that all will be okay. Especially once you get the BIG YES. The day before as he and his fiancĂ©’ to be were taking a walk, he spotted a family with musical instruments. He randomly asked them to play the song that he would propose to. Of course they agreed and showed up to play, the funny thing is, they actually played the wrong song. It was all so extremely sweet!
One thing I always do when I have a surprise proposal in City Park is have an in-depth conversation with the person who is planning. I always want to make sure we are on the same page when planning these types of events. I try to help smooth out any kinks so the proposal can go as smoothly as possible and to help them feel more at ease.
Eric really wanted to make sure that JoAnn felt as comfortable and glamorous as possible in these photos. Because of that we planned an actual photo session so she could feel beautiful during the actual proposal. Before the proposal took place, Eric left to go set things up. Meanwhile, I focused on getting some updated headshots for JoAnn who is a phenomenal chef. You can check out her amazing food here.
If you enjoyed this session, please be sure to check this surprise proposal in Audubon Park!
